7 Ways to Network Your Way Out of a Job and Into a Work-from-Home Career
Every day, you may read stories on how individuals network to get new jobs. There are several books and articles available on how to build contacts in order to locate employment that would otherwise go unnoticed. What about those who don't want to work?
I'm not talking about a lazy individual with no ambition. The person I'm referring to is the unemployed, serial entrepreneur, or corporate refugee. If you are already employed and your goal is to become a work-from-home entrepreneur, networking may still be beneficial to you.
Here are seven networking methods to help you launch a successful work-from-home job.1. Form your own board of directors
IBM and Microsoft aren't the only companies that should have a boardroom team. As a home-based company owner, you'll want to have a group of individuals to meet with, strategize, and seek advice from.
They may see abilities and capabilities in you that you are unaware of. Once you've determined your company aim, you may use the power of six degrees of separation. The idea of six degrees of separation states that anybody on Earth may be linked to another person in the world via a chain of acquaintances that is no more than five connections apart.
2. Join entrepreneurial networking organizations
Successful company entrepreneurs like connecting with one other and expanding their connections. Look for associations that have company owners that share your interests. Don't regard them just as competitors. Look for chances where you can help them in some manner. Here are some organizations to consider:
- The Chamber of Commerce
- BNI (Business Networking International)
- Le-Tip
- Rotary International
First, decide exactly what you want to accomplish. Did you note I say "going to achieve"? Life will provide precisely what you anticipate of it. Begin with the goal in mind.
Now is the time to dream big and envision what your life will be like as a successful company owner. Don't worry about how. To establish objectives, just ask yourself some crucial questions such as:
- What would I want to do if I didn't get paid for it?
- How many days will I work every week?
- What kind of work-from-home business am I interested in?
- Where will I live?
- What do I like to do?
One of the reasons you want to know this is because while looking at home-based company income prospects, you want to choose one with the profit potential you need and require. If your financial independence figure is $5000.00 per month, you should avoid choosing a firm that does not have the ability to generate that amount passively.
Because you are clear about your objectives, you can examine business chances that come when networking and meeting new people without emotion.
3. Remember that it is better to give than to receive
One of the most common issues I notice with networking is that most individuals walk in with the intention of receiving before giving. Always search for methods to help the individuals you initially meet. There exists a global rule of reciprocity. You will always get more than you give forth. As you get to know individuals, consider how you may assist to improve their lives or help them achieve their objectives.
If you read an article or come across anything that might be useful to them, email it to them. When you really care about the success of others, you will be benefited by your generosity.
Some call it karma, while others believe you receive what you sow. When I donate, my life experiences are blessed in ways I never dreamed.
So search for opportunities to help. You may be able to do this in a number of ways:
- Offer to work with them in some capacity.
- Refer them to persons in your network who can aid them.
- Share notes or articles that may be of interest or assist in growing their company.
4. Learn how to form a joint venture or strategic partnership
Creating a joint venture with someone is one of the quickest ways to quit your job, start your own company, or just earn some money.
Joint venturing is a method of bringing together two or more individuals who might benefit from working together but did not previously have a connection. You benefit from creating the connection.
For example, you know that a veterinarian has a huge practice with over 700 customers. You also have a connection with a new pet groomer in the city who is looking to expand his company. You combine the two, and you get paid every time the pet groomer receives a new customer as a result of the way you structured the arrangement. We refer to this as mailbox money. Money arrives in your mailbox whether you work or not.
5. Create a documented networking strategy
I'm shocked at how much time and effort individuals will put into finding a new job. However, when it comes to devising a strategy to quit the rat race, they proceed practically randomly. A documented strategy will greatly increase your effectiveness. The strategy does not need to be complex. Here are some of the fundamental topics you want to cover:
- A. What is my goal?
- B. Who do I wish to meet?
- C. Which events should I concentrate on?
- D. How often should I be networking?
6. Attend seminars and boot camp events
However, if you really want to make these instructional encounters lucrative, follow these three steps:
a. Introduce yourself to at least three individuals and ask for their cards. Inquire about their motivation for attending the event and what they intend to gain from it. Exchange numbers and ask, "What is the single most important thing you need help with to make your business successful?"
When you ask this of someone else, you will really get to know them and may be able to assist them. In addition, out of respect, people will want to learn more about you, and a new friendship may develop.
b. Go to lunch with someone you met at the seminar and tell them everything you've learned so far and plan to apply. There is something about saying your aim out that makes it real. If you do one single action as soon as you understand anything, the effects will expand exponentially.
b. Introduce yourself to the speaker. This may be tough, especially if the event is enormous. If there is a book signing, purchase their book and ask them one question while they are signing it. My inquiry concerns the following: "What is the single most important skill you contribute to your success?" You may appreciate my question or come up with your own. The idea is that you have an excellent chance to network and learn from someone who is a master in their profession. Seize the chance.
7. Set an objective for each networking opportunity
For example, if you want to meet someone, ask the host of the networking event if they know them and would be happy to introduce you. Because of the nature of the event, your odds of success are practically 100%.
Networking is sometimes neglected as a means of breaking free from the grind. If you're looking for a work-from-home opportunity, networking might be the key to quick success. Get the inside scoop and learn seven strategies to network your way out of a job.
